Time Trials

These time trials have been conducted on my Home PC they are not official ratings, I compiled the figures for my self and anyone else who may have a passing interest.

My machine is a Pentium Dual Core 2.4GHz, 2GB Memory, 250GB HDD, Nvidia 6200 Graphics card 10/100 CAT5 network, 19” TFT VideoSeven Monitor. I used an 80GB HDD for all the installs/trials on the 2nd IDE Channel.

All the distro’s had a fair chance each install was rebooted 5 times to allow the hardware and install to ‘settle down’. The timing matrix should be pretty clear to anyone that reads it, Power On means pressing the power button and starting the stopwatch simultaneously timing to the Grub/Boot Loader screen.

I then started the process again (Rebooted) and timed from Grub to the Login Screen, another Reboot and timed from Login Screen to a ‘Usable’ Desktop.
